1 Thessalonians 5:12-13 | A Culture of Mutual Honor

There are seventeen commands in the eleven verses between 1 Thessalonians 5:12 and 5:22. This week we will consider three of them that directly affect the life of a local church.

It’s important to always remember that Jesus is the Head of the Church, His bride, and He alone has the authority to define what it looks like, how it’s structured, and how it operates best. 

The apostle Paul, under the inspiration of the Spirit of Christ, defines the role and responsibilities of both pastors and congregations. And what we see is that the church is to be built on a culture of mutual honor. This ought to mean mutual respect, mutual service, mutual knowledge, and mutual love.
