From Broken to Beautiful
A Primer on Marriage Counseling
In this class we will look at some of the unique dynamics involved in helping hurting couples work through the historical pain points of their marriage with the goal of equipping them to experience God’s good design for their union.
Historically, most of the counseling that I’ve done, by category, has been marriage counseling. As Christians, we know that a healthy and biblical marriage is a reflection of Christ and the Church (Ephesians 5) and it’s an apologetic for the Gospel – by that I mean, it speaks to the power of the Gospel to change and unite people together in Christ.
So, Satan hates godly marriage and yet most Christians seem to think that it’s supposed to be easy and as long as they love one another, everything will be okay. But listen, every divorce began with a promise to love one another until death do they part. What happened? Love wasn’t enough. A good marriage requires work and the intentional investment of time and energy. And, sometimes, a couple will need outside help to fix their problems and learn to honor God in their marriage.
