1 Thessalonians 2:9-12 | Character Matters II

Feb 1, 2026    Pastor Doug Forman

In this week’s text, the apostle Paul is going to continue his parental metaphors in describing his conduct among the Thessalonian believers.

Last week, he spoke of acting like a nursing mother pouring his life into them. This week, he describes himself as a father, coming alongside them, comforting them, and calling them up to a standard of conduct that honors God and reflects the reality of the Gospel in them.

All of these character traits, represented in these metaphors, are necessary for effective ministry and Biblical leadership.

The question remains the same, what kind of leader are you? Do others see these things in you?
