Take Stock
You are going to die. That’s a sobering and inescapable part of life in a sin-ruined world. Everything born eventually dies. That doesn’t mean life has no meaning nor does it mean life doesn’t have its pleasures.
In this week’s text the apostle Paul is taking stock of his 10 years of church planting ministry, and he finds a deep satisfaction in His work for Christ even as he always anticipated the next church plant in the next city in the next country.
Paul understood that the greatest travesty in this life isn’t death. It’s a failure to actually live before you die. When was the last time you similarly took stock of your life and the life that is still before you?
There’s no time like now.
