Passion Means Pain

The popular definition of the word “Passion” would be a strong feeling or desire. The original meaning of the word was pain and suffering.

Therefore, the expression “Passion Week” is better understood as “Suffering Week.” Likewise, the expression "The Passion of the Christ” is better understood as the “Suffering of the Christ.”

This week we are going to walk through the events that comprise the Last Supper all the way through the death of Jesus Christ. It is our prayer that we will be both broken and built-up as we peer into the sufferings of the Christ who died to purchase the promises of God and who has triumphantly risen again.
