The Rhythm of Fasting
This week we are diving into our annual three-week Rhythm series. The purpose of this series is to reset our rhythms after potentially busy summers.
This year we will consider the rhythms of service and worship, but we will begin with the rhythm of fasting.
Considering that, we must acknowledge that food is a necessary component of life. Studies have shown that the average person begins to feel hungry within three to four hours after eating a balanced meal. That means eating is a part of the normal rhythm of life.
The question of the hour is this, do we long for and even hunger for God in the same way? And are we willing to say no to that which is necessary in order to pursue the One who is essential?
