Cary Shaw
ADMINISTRATOR, TWIN TIERS CHRISTIAN ACADEMY
Cary has been serving at TTCA since 1990. After graduating from Cedarville University with a degree in mathematics and secondary education, he was hired to teach math at TTCA. He continued in that position until 1996 when, at that time, he was hired as the school’s administrator. He continues to keep a presence in the classroom, though, as he will teach an occasional math class be that algebra, geometry, or calculus. For most of the years since 1990, he has had the excitement of working with our students as the boys’ varsity basketball coach and, at times, the coach of the girls’ junior varsity team.
In an effort to better serve the ministry and to improve his skills, he pressed on in his education. He finished a master’s of science in education degree at Elmira College in 1998. Shortly after that, he was awarded New York State permanent certification to teach secondary mathematics. Then, from 2008 to 2015, he studied in the doctoral program at Binghamton University and eventually completed his doctorate in educational theory and practice.
For Cary, coming to Twin Tiers in 1990 was a bit of a homecoming. He was quite familiar with the ministry as a former student who attended here from 1980-1983. He is sure he would have graduated from the school had his father’s job not taken him from this area. However, great things can become of the unexpected. As a result of that move, he attended a Christian high school in Jamestown, NY where he met his future wife. He and Kathy have been married since 1991. The Lord has blessed their home with four wonderful children: Kerianne, Jordan, Hannah, and Morgan.
